An alert Chievo team has beaten Genoa 1-0 thanks to a Théréau goal at the half-hour mark. After 24 minutes comes the first attacking action of the match: Pellissier passes wide to Cruzado, who crosses into the middle to Théréau, but his effort goes over the crossbar. After 30 minutes Pellissier on the right passes to Théréau in the middle, who beats Frey. Four minutes later and the French attacker receives a perfect cross from Sardo, but his acrobatic attempt doesn’t find the goal. A few minutes later Cruzado launches a surface-to-air missile of a shot that Frey puts wide for a corner. Two minutes from half-time, Sculli looks dangerous when his header nearly goes in, but Sorrentino is in time to thwart the danger.

The second half heats up in the 54th minute when Kucka’s header just misses the goal. 58 minutes and another miraculous Sorrentino save is made on a Jankovic attempt. Genoa are looking for the draw but the Gialloblù are defending well and have an answer for everything. In the 84th minute Vacek, who’s come on for Luciano, breaks free from his marker on the edge of the box and shoots with his left, but Frey is able to flick the ball away. Three minutes from the end, Bellusci tries from outside the area but misses. Chievo come away with three vital points and a few steps up the league table.
